From Balenciaga to A. Wang, Paris Fashion Week has taught us that this spring will be all about the shirt dress. It's light and free-flowing as every spring essential should be but how do we wear it? Something with as much structure as the ones pictured below can make it work all on their own. But those that are much more free-flowing like the one I snagged need a bit more structure to tie the whole look together. The easiest way to do this is by throwing over a light cropped sweater. I wanted to go for a white on white look, that's also trending this spring, but with the elements of different textures to give the illusion of a cinched waist without a belt. Another way to wear the shirt dress and stay spring chic is to wear it with a light spring trench or a utility jacket like this one from Marc Jacobs. With any menswear inspired style, the look cannot be complete with a feminine element. My rule with men's shirts is always wear them with heels. There's just something so sexy and mysterious about a woman in a men's dress shirt with a hot pair of high heels.
