[The Denim Jacket]
And my obsession with oversized clothes continues with this denim jacket. I shot this in the summer with my good friend, Terrence but I am still continuing to use this denim jacket as a staple piece in my closet. Though my search for the perfect denim jacket was excruciatingly exciting, I thought sharing my experience will help narrow your choices down.
First, what are you looking for? Casual? Dressy? Everyday? Edgy? Knowing the purpose behind your shopping makes it a lot easier to narrow down your choices. I'm always a casual/everyday type-of-girl so I was looking for an oversized denim jacket that of course had pockets. Pockets are essential for a girl like me who loses her phone constantly. I don't know why I insist on holding my phone at all times but it's definitely a job for pockets! I also wanted something oversized so I can double it as a coat when wearing a dress or cut-offs.
Next, what's the wash you're looking for? Acid? Light? Dark? Medium? A good way to start is by looking at your closet. What colors do you see the most? If you have a lot of black, then try a light denim to brighten up your wardrobe! If you're a creature of habit, then sticking with a darker shade of denim might be the way to go. If you're adventurous, then I'd go with the acid wash-- it gives the perfect edge to any outfit and surprisingly goes with everything. Since I already had a darker denim, I chose to go with the lighter shade. I also wanted to experiment giving this jacket a distressed look and I thought the lighter shade would work better.
Lastly, where do you look? Denim is all around but you have to find a store that caters to your needs. Here are a few online stores that I found to always have good denim finds. Good thing about these online stores is that you can type in "denim jacket" in the search bar located at the very top of their landing page to get linked directly to an array of denim jackets to chose from.
If you're still lost, take a peek at some of the denim jackets I've listed at the very bottom of this post.
